|| About the Collection ||
Composer and songwriter Jerome Kern (1885-1945) is best remembered for his Broadway and film work, including the lovely melodies from Showboat, "Old Man River," "Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man," and "Bill," as well as standards such as "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and "The Way You Look Tonight.” The Jerome Kern Collection in the Library of Congress Music Division consists primarily of Show Music, including a number of holograph sketches and scores, but the majority of the music is in the hands of Kern’s orchestrators and arrangers.
