Harold Spivacke Collection

|| About the Collection ||

Harold Spivacke (1904-1977) is best remembered as the chief of the Music Division of the Library of Congress from 1937 until 1972. Like most of the leading music libranians of his generation, he had a strong background in musicology (his doctorate was from the University of Berlin). The Spivacke Collection reflects the life of a musicologist, music librarian and administrator who has had far-reaching influence in the musical world.
