|| About the Collection ||
Composer, pianist and educator Louise Talma taught music at Hunter College in Manhattan for over fifty years. She had close ties with the American Conservatory at Fontainebleau near Paris where she worked for many years with Nadia Boulanger, first as a student and then as a colleague, becoming the first American Boulanger invited to teach with her at Fontainebleau. She also spent many summers at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire, and left them a million dollars in her will. The collection consists mostly of her scores (sketches, manuscripts and some published pieces), correspondence, programs, clippings and photographs.
