Beverly Cleary

Beverly Cleary published her first book, “Henry Huggins,” in 1950. She has since written more than 30 books, selling more than 10 million copies. Her long-term appeal for children lies in her ability to relate a story from the child’s perspective. The antics of Henry Huggins and his friends Beezus and Ramona Quimby have earned her life-long friends of all ages. Cleary has won numerous literary awards, including the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award and the prestigious Newbery Medal for “Dear Mr. Henshaw.”
