Presentation: CONSER standard record training and documentation

Purpose: making sure everyone is on the same page; materials (PPT, documentation, cheat sheet, personal experience) to take home and share; create a good foundation for the second part of the day, i.e. in depth discussion.

Discussion of local implementation strategies;issues that have that surfaced during the training sessions; issues of maintenance (i.e. how to play with each other’s records; what can(‘t) be done with existing records; special materials, other questions

Purpose: ensure support for the new standard by inviting/allowing participation from all; shared process/cooperation creates shared ownership; allow expert catalogers help raise/anticipate/resolve difficult issues.

DLF and records for digitized serials. Status: we have agreed that separate records should be aggregator neutral. We recognize the need for some institutions to use the single record approach. We are evaluating the use of the single record approach in CONSER and the degree to which we are comfortable including additional elements to accommodate the DLF Registry of Digital Masters on the national level record when using the single record approach.
