Description of breakout sessions

Problems from home. (LM 515)

This is an open session for discussion of individual serials that pose problems or interesting challenges. Operation meeting attendees are encouraged to bring problems (photocopies from issues, record printouts, etc.) from home. Leaders of the session can also gather problem samples ( photocopies, printouts, etc.) to bring to the session.

CONSER workflow (LM 509)

This session offers the opportunity to share with others how you handle CONSER work in your institution. Who creates and reviews CONSER records? What efficiencies have you been able to institute? What questions do you have about your own workflow? This is a chance to share and gain insights into some of the issues that face you on a day-to-day basis.

CONSER cataloging issues (LM 501)

This is a session to discuss cataloging issues, rather than individual serials, and how these issues are resolved. Suggested topics include making decisions regarding title changes, knowing when to collapse records, and how to deal with problems in other CONSER records. Name headings, subject headings, and other topics may also be included.

SCCTP (LM 513)

Includes general discussion of existing SCCTP courses, those under development, and the impact on SCCTP courses because of AACR2 revision. This is a chance for those who are already SCCTP trainers, those who might like to be SCCTP trainers, and any others to comment on the content and format of the courses and future training needs. Two new courses are currently under development: Advanced serials (Kristin Lindlan and Meg Mering) and Electronic serials (Les Hawkins and Steve Shadle) and updates on the work completed so far will be presented.

MARC holdings (LM 527)

Has your library implemented the MFHD yet? Are you about to? What are the issues you've faced, decisions made or to be made? Are you contributing or thinking about contributing patterns in CONSER records? Want to know more about the new SCCTP course?

Electronic serials: open discussion (LM 507)

An open session for discussion on topics relating to the cataloging or processing of electronic serials. What is your library doing to provide access to the many collections of electronic serials and other resources? Solutions range from low tech (e.g., Serial Solutions) to hi tech (e.g., sfx). What are the problems that you are encountering?
