GUIDELINES FOR SCCTP WORKSHOP SPONSORS
3-6 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOPDetermine the time and location of the training session and the number of days.Some workshops are 2 day, others are 1 to 1 1/2 days. It is recommended that you allow the maximum time for each workshop.Contact Les Hawkins lhaw@loc.gov so that the workshop can be added to the SCCTP Web site schedule and to verify the latest version available. Determine who the instructors will be.The lists of trainers appear below. Contact Les Hawkins for help or suggestions. If the workshop is two or more days, two instructors should be used. Serials Trainers
Determine the approximate enrollment.The maximum class size should be 20-25 people.Determine the costs of the workshop and advertise.A major goal of SCCTP is affordable training. The program does not recommend
course
fees, however, since they will vary among different sponsors. 6 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP:Print manual, plan services, e.g., refreshments, ASL interpreter, etc.SCCTP course materials are available free of charge. The copy mounted on SCCTP webpage is considered the latest and only official version of the course. When SCCTP trainers are used, planners may only need to print out the trainee manual.

Receive and process registrations and payments/billing documents.
Once trainees have registered ask them to fill out Needs Assessment.
The Basic Serials Workshop and the Holdings Workshop have pre and post workshop exercises as components.Ask trainees to work on the pre-workshop exercises and bring them with them to the session.Preparations
