ROBERT
BADINTER
Robert
Badinter is a Senator in the Parliament of France; he is also on the Global
Law Faculty, New York University School of Law. He formerly served as
a professor of law, Minister of Justice, and President of the Constitutional
Council of the French Republic. While serving as President of the French
Constitutional Council, he chaired the Arbitration Committee established
by the European Economic Community to consider requests for admission
to the EEC from the Republics of former Yugoslavia. His influence on the
French Constitutional Council is the subject of a book, Sur le Conseil
constitutionnel: la doctrine Badinter et la démocratie. He is the
author or co-author of numerous books including: Liberté, libertés:
réflexions du comité pour une charte des libertés and Antisémitsme
ordinaire: vichy et les avocats juifs (1940-1944).
