E. SEXTON
John
E. Sexton is Dean (1988-present) and Warren E. Burger Professor of Law
at New York University School of Law. He holds a Ph.D. in History of American
Religion from Fordham University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. After
receiving his law degree, he served as Law Clerk to Chief Justice Warren
E. Burger (1980-81), United States Supreme Court; and clerked for Judge
David L. Bazelon and Harold Leventhal, United States Court of Appeals
(DC). For ten years, he served as Special Master supervising pretrial
proceedings in the Love Canal litigation. For the 1997-98 term, he was
President of the Association of Law Schools. Dean Sexton is author of
Redefining the Supreme Court's Role: A Theory of Managing the Federal
Court System (1986); A Non-Lawyer's Guide to the Constitution
(1986); and Modern Federal Jury Instructions - Civil (1985). Dean
Sexton also has written numerous chapters, articles, testimonies, and
Supreme Court briefs.
