NUR VERGIN

Nur Vergin is Professor of Political Science at the Public Administration Department, Istanbul University. She has held a series of academic positions in political science and political sociology at several Turkish universities. Professor Vergin is the author of Industrialization and Social Change in Rural Areas (in French), Political Sociology, and Witnessing Turkey (in Turkish). Another book in Turkish (State, Society, and Religion) is under press. She has also written numerous articles in Turkish, French, and English on religion and politics, social change, and the Turkish political system. Her on-going research is on the concept of raison d'Etat, focusing on the Turkish state and politics. She holds a BA, MA and PhD in Sociology, all from the University of Paris-Sorbonne.
