BELL
Daniel Bell is the Henry Ford II Professor of Social Science, Emeritus
of Harvard University and scholar-in-residence at the American Academy
of Arts and Sciences. He is the author/editor of seventeen books, including
The End of Ideology, The Cultural Contradictions of Capitalism
and The Coming of Post-Industrial Society. The first two were cited
by The Times Literary Supplement in 1995 as among the hundred most important
books published since the end of World War II. He has received the gold
medal of the American Council on Education for his book on The Reforming
of General Education, the award of the American Sociological Association
for a lifetime career of distinguished scholarship, and the Talcott Parsons
social science medal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
