Exchange
of Letters Between Stonewall Jackson, Gen. Shields,
and Gen. Nathaniel P. Banks 1862, Discussing the Battle
of Port Republic
Jackson discusses his refusal to exchange Union prisoners,
because Union troops have been firing on his hospital
staff. Jackson letters are very rare. Includes two additional
letters from another officer also dealing with the failed
exchange of wounded and dead after the Battle of Port
Royal and the release by Jackson of prisoners seized at
Winchester.
