Autobiographical Notes and Drafts

Notes, drafts, and annotated typescripts and correspondence relating to Aaron Copland's monumental two-volume autobiography Copland:1900 through 1942 and Copland since 1943. Co-authored and assembled by Vivian Perlis during the 1970s and 80s, the collection complements the Music Division's vast Aaron Copland Archive. The working type-scripts are heavily annotated in Copland's hand and contain material which was not used in the final published edition.
