The Myron M. Weinstein Memorial Lecture on the Hebraic Book

This annual lecture will encompass scholarly presentations on Hebrew manuscripts and printed books, as well as on documentary and textual materials in other Hebraic languages, such as Yiddish and Ladino. The scope of the lectures is meant to reflect the wide-ranging scholarly interests of Myron M. Weinstein, who served his entire 29-year career (1955-84) at the Library in the Hebraic Section, which he headed from 1980 until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Weinstein died in 1998. A scholar, linguist, and bibliographer of note, Myron Weinstein published well-received and influential articles on Hebrew books and manuscripts in scholarly journals in the United States and Israel. The inaugural lecture is slated to take place in spring 2000.
