Joy Hakim

Joy Hakim

A former teacher, editor, and the first women editorial writer for Norfolk's Virginian Pilot, Joy Hakim is the author of the Michener Prize-winning ten-volume series: A History of US (Oxford University Press, 1993-1995). Her new book, Freedom: A History of US (Oxford University Press, Nov. 2002), will be the companion book to the upcoming 16-part PBS miniseries, Freedom. When she is not writing and researching at her home in Virginia, Ms. Hakim spends time in Colorado sharing stories with her grandchildren
