Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve

Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve

Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve was born and raised on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota and is an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux tribe. For 25 years, she was a teacher and counselor in public schools in South Dakota. Since 1972, she has published 20 books, numerous short stories, articles, and poems. Her most recent book is Granpa Was a Cowboy and an Indian and Other Stories (University of Nebraska Press, 2000). Ms. Sneve was a 2000 National Humanities Medalist and she was named 1999 Author of the Year by South Dakota English Teachers. She lives in Rapid City, South Dakota.
