Author Biography

Pam Muñoz Ryan

Pam Muñoz Ryan

Pam Muñoz Ryan spent many summers in her youth visiting the library, where she got hooked on reading and books. A teacher before she became a writer, she has written more than twenty-five books for young people, including Esperanza Rising (Scholastic, 2000), winner of the Pura Belpré Medal and the Américas Award Honor Book. Her picture books include When Marian Sang (Scholastic, 2002), which received the ALA Robert F. Sibert Honor and NCTE's Orbis Pictus Award. She lives in San Diego County, California.
