Sonia Manzano
Sonia Manzano, best known as “Maria” on Sesame Street, has played the role of shopkeeper and mother for more than 20 years. She has shared in 15 Emmy Awards as a member of the Sesame Street writing staff and has twice been nominated for an Emmy Award as “Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series.” No Dogs Allowed (Atheneum, 2004) marks her picture book debut. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter.
