Best-selling author Diana Gabaldon holds a Ph.D. in ecology and spent a dozen years as a university professor before turning to writing full-time. She is also the author of more than six novels, including Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross, Lord John and the Private Matter and one work of nonfiction, The Outlandish Companion.  Her most recent book is A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Delacorte Press, 2005). She lives in Arizona.
