National Book Festival

Best-selling author Barbara Taylor Bradford began her writing career as a journalist, first as a cub reporter and later as a syndicated columnist. Children's books and eight books on decorating followed before her first novel, "A Women of Substance" (1979) which introduced the character, Emma Harte. It now ranks among the top 10 best-selling fiction books in history. Her latest novel, "Emma's Secret" (St. Martin's, 2004), continues the Emma Harte family saga. Mrs. Bradford was inducted into the Writers Hall of Fame of America (2003). She lives in New York City.
