National Book Festival

The Library of Congress > National Book Festival > Authors > Books in Translation Panel

Ever wonder what it takes to translate a great work of literature from another language into English? Why are translators the unsung heroes of the literary world? What can we learn from their deep dive into the words of writers outside our borders? National Endowment for the Arts Literature Director Amy Stolls will moderate a discussion with author-translator Paul Auster and Natasha Wimmer (Roberto Bolaño's translator) about the art of translation and its role in the literary world. The panel will welcome questions from the audience.
