Internationally recognized four-star chef Cathal Armstrong knows Irish cuisine. Native to Dublin, he was born into a family with a passion for food, as they kept a fruit and vegetable garden and also shared a deep appreciation for other cultures and their fare. Armstrong eventually went on to practice culinary training in France before bringing his cooking skills across the pond. In addition to owning seven successful restaurants, including the highly rated Restaurant Eve in Alexandria, Va., Armstrong is a leader in the sustainable-food movement. He promotes ideals of environmentalism, health, conservation, organic growing and sustainability. In his first cookbook “My Irish Table” (Ten Speed Press), Armstrong includes 130 “recipes from the homeland and Restaurant Eve” and also highlights his journey from Dublin to Washington.
