Chris Van Dusen is an author and illustrator of children’s picture books. He began his career as an illustrator at a magazine for teenagers and as a freelance illustrator, until he wrote his first children’s book, “Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee.” He has been writing and illustrating picture books ever since, including “Randy Riley’s Really Big Hit” and “The Circus Ship.” He has also illustrated several books written by Kate DiCamillo, including the Mercy Watson series. Van Dusen’s most recent book, “Hattie & Hudson” (Candlewick), explores the danger of judging by appearances when a girl becomes friends with an enormous, seemingly scary creature that lives in the lake.
