Daniel De Simone was appointed curator of the Lessing J. Rosenwald Collection of the Library of Congress in January 2000. He came to the Library after 25 years in the rare-book trade, principally as the owner of his own company. Since joining the Library of Congress, De Simone has organized a number of exhibitions and symposia, including “A Heavenly Craft: The Woodcut in Early Printed Books,” which was accompanied by an illustrated exhibition catalog that he edited of books from the Rosenwald Collection. De Simone has also edited a number of other publications for the Library of Congress and has written numerous articles on the history of printing and the graphic arts. De Simone will make his presentation with John Hessler on “Galileo Galilei: The Starry Messenger” (Library of Congress in association with Levenger), which the two co-edited.
