National Book Festival

A former lawyer who taught academic research and writing, Ellen Oh has a curiosity for ancient Asian history which has inspired her work on the young adult Prophecy series. When she found a lack of material on Korean history in local bookstores, her father assisted her research by translating many Korean history books. Her main method for writing the novel “Prophecy” involved scribbling on scrap paper and post-it notes during rush hour traffic. Her books include “Warrior” and “King.” Recently, she edited the short story collection “Flying Lessons & Other Stories” (Crown), which features works by Kwame Alexander, Meg Medina and Tim Tingle. Despite growing up in New York City, she has yet to find a perfect bagel.
