Fredrick L. McKissack Jr. has written more than 70 books, most of them with his wife, Patricia McKissack. Many of their books focus on African-Americans and their history. Their “Great African-Americans” series includes “Jesse Owens: Olympic Star” and “Mary McLeod Bethune: A Great American Educator.” Fredrick McKissack’s most recent book on his own is “Shooting Star” (Atheneum). He is also one of the writers of “The Exquisite Corpse Adventure,” an original story written for the Library of Congress’ Read.gov website and now a book from Candlewick.
