Pam Muñoz Ryan spent many summers in her youth visiting the library, where she got hooked on reading and books. A teacher before she became a best-selling author, she has written more than twenty-five books for young people, including "Esperanza Rising," winner of the Pura Belpré Medal and the Américas Award Honor Book. Her other award-winning books include “Riding Freedom,” "When Marian Sang" and her latest book “Echo” (Scholastic). She lives in California.
