The host of PBS’s popular cooking show “Pati’s Mexican Table” is Pati Jinich, who was born and raised in Mexico. Jinich says she grew up in a family of “accomplished cooks and food maniacs.” But Jinich did not start out as a chef. She was a political analyst and has a master’s degree in Latin American studies from Georgetown University. All the while, however, her passion for food remained. She launched “Mexican Table” in 2007, at the urging of the director of the Mexican Cultural Institute. Jinich’s new book is “Pati’s Mexican Table” (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt).
