Trudi Trueit started writing plays when she was in the fourth grade. She would use her friends as cast members. At 13, she began writing a column for her hometown newspaper in Kent, Washington. She later earned a degree in broadcasting and became a television reporter and weather forecaster. Trueit decided to write a book for young people about weather and eventually wrote four books on the topic. Trueit also writes fiction and is the first author to write children’s fiction for National Geographic. Her new book is “Explorer Academy: The Nebula Secret” (National Geographic).
