Speaker Biography:
By the time that he retired in 1989 at age 42, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, six-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player, had made basketball history by out-scoring, out-blocking and out-playing nearly everyone else in the NBA. He is also the author of six books including "Brothers in Arms: The Epic Story of the 761st Tank Battalion, WWII's Forgotten Heroes." Inspired by recollections of a family friend and veteran of the battalion and working with co-writer Anthony Walton, Abdul-Jabbar interviewed surviving members to develop this recounting of the wartime experiences of courageous men.
