Speaker Biography:
Kate DiCamillo lived in the South for much of her childhood and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Her debut children’s book, “Because of Winn Dixie” (2000), was a Newbery Honor Book and was made into a film in 2005. DiCamillo's “The Tale of Despereaux” (2003) won the Newbery Award in 2004 and was also turned in a movie in 2005.
