Speaker Biography:
Richard Peck, author of numerous novels for middle-graders and young adults, is one of America's most highly respected writers for the young. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including National Humanities Medal, the Margaret A. Edwards Award, the ALAN Award for outstanding contributions to young-adult literature and two Edgar Awards. His “A Year Down Yonder” won the 2001 Newbery Medal, and its prequel, “A Long Way from Chicago,” was a National Book Award finalist and a Newbery Honor Book.
