Speaker Biography:
Nathaniel Philbrick is the author of the popular historical books “Mayflower” and “In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex,” which won the 2000 National Book Foundation Award for nonfiction. A resident of Nantucket Island, Mass., Philbrick is a leading authority on the history of Nantucket and founded the Egan Institute of Maritime Institute in 1995. His latest book is “The Last Stand: Custer, Sitting Bull, and the Battle of the Little Bighorn.”
