British Library The British Library's CIP programme was commenced in 1975. Following a review of bibliographic services in 1988, it was contracted out to private tender. The contract is re-tendered according to European Union rules every 3-5 years. Bibliographic Data Services currently supply the CIP data to the British Library. We are responsible for the administration of the programme. Publishers participating in the programme are referred directly to BDS, whilst enquiries from librarians are directed here.

National Library of Brazil The National Library of Brazil doesn't have a cataloguing in publication program.
National Library of Malta At the moment, the National Library of Malta does not have an official CIP program. The current situation is that one or two publishers occasionally request CIP data from the National Library as well as the University of Malta Library. However, on the part of the National Library, this is carried out solely on an informal basis (also due to a chronic staff shortage) and as yet, there is no official policy regarding CIP data.
Slovak National Library The Slovak National Library serves as the ISBN National Agency and for this reason there is the intention to develop CIP Program in Slovakia. This program will be connected with the process of assigning the ISBN number. According to the Legal Deposit Law the publishers ask the ISBN National Agency for the ISBN number. The starting discussions with Slovak publishers has started this year (2004). Our plan is to create an open system for CIP Program which means that the greatest publishers will prepare the CIP records themselves and they will send them to the common database maintained by the ISBN National Agency. The CIP records for smaller publishers will be prepared by the Slovak National Library after receiving all data needed for this purpose.

Biblioteka Narodowa (National Library) Interest in the CIP program among Polish publishes is very low. In 1993, Polish bibliographic agency sent information about CIP to all publishers in the country (2,500 then) but the action did not bring expected results - publishers' participation in the CIP programme did not increase.

National Library of Spain Nowadays, there is nothing planned at national level, there is not a current program. There are several centers that are in charge of their CIPs because of the Spanish territorial division. There are also other institutions that accomplish their own CIPs as universities through their libraries. But, we do not reject the possibility to carry it out if there is a coordinate proposal at international level.
Biblioteca Nacional de Chile The National Library does not use a national programme. At this stage only the publications produced by the Centro de Investigaciones Diego Barros Arana are catalogued. This centre is part of our institution and carries out research related to our patrimonial collections.
St. Cyril and Methodius National Library The CIP program has no tradition in Bulgaria. In 1996 the National library made the first attempt to organize a system on a base of editors sending information by post. The organizers took advantage of the National Book Fair to disseminate explanatory papers and printed forms among editors. Unfortunately the editors didn't respond to the library's request. We hope on better results in future when the library will manage to organize the exchange of information using the e-mail but we have no specific project for the near future.

National Library of Latvia In Latvia we have neither CIP practice, nor supporting legislation, or demand from publishers and libraries. Bibliographic descriptions in our national bibliography data bases, union catalogue, authority records are based on legal deposit copies, which the National Library receives as the deposit library. National bibliography record is our priority and serves to all the parties concerned.
National Library Of Nigeria CIP Program in Nigeria is still operational and more publishers are getting more interested in the program.
National Library of Australia Program commenced in Australia in 1974.
