Library of Congress Documentation for the RDA (Resource Description and Access) Test: Choices in RDA

4/21/10

RDA offers choices in the four categories listed below. Agencies will need to decide if they will make specific policy decisions or tell catalogers to apply judgment. The Library of Congress's policy decisions for the RDA Test are given in the documents posted here.

  1. Elements to be included in LC's bibliographic and authority records beyond those identified in RDA as core elements or core elements in some situations. Elements not listed may be included according to cataloger's judgment. [Word file - 8 p.; 265 KB]
  2. Alternatives, optional omissions, and optional additions. [Word file - 16 p.; 173 KB]
  3. Instructions referring to decisions by the "agency creating the data" or "agency preparing the description." [Word file - 2 p.; 61 KB]
  4. Instructions using wording "or" to refer to choices for the same situation. [Word file - 2 p.; 48 KB]
