LIBRARY OF CONGRESS IMPLEMENTATION OF "AMENDMENTS 1999" TO AACR2

The American Library Association has issued "Amendments 1999" to the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd ed., 1998 Revision.

The LC Cataloger's Desktop version of the AACR2 text integrates the "Amendments 1999" rule revisions into the 1998 Revision of AACR2. The amendments also appear separately as an appendix to the AACR2 text in Cataloger's Desktop, under "Most recent Amendments," and on the ALA Editions Web site.

Library of Congress staff are encouraged to use the integrated version of the AACR2 text that appears in Cataloger's Desktop.

Implementation of "Amendments 1999" to AACR2 is effective immediately. (All of the rule revisions contained in "Amendments 1999" are for bibliographic description and most of them reflect existing Library of Congress Rule Interpretations.)
