March 7, 2007
Present from CPSO: R. Goudreau, M. Wewerka, D. Thompson,
J. Young, P. Frank
CLASSIFICATION
Changes were made as indicated on the approved list.
SUBJECT HEADINGS
Subdivisions to be added to lists of free-floating subdivisions:
H 1161, Musical instrum
$v Methods (Jazz-rock) ¹
$v Methods (Jazz-rock) $v Group instruction ¹
$v Methods (Jazz-rock) $v Self-instruction ¹
$v Studies and exercises (Jazz-rock) ¹
Other decisions:
Collage
Only the title of a work being cataloged was cited as
justification for the proposed reference from Collage paintings. Additional
research is needed to confirm that the reference is a synonym for the heading.
If research shows this to be so, the proposal may be resubmitted.
Food industry and trade--Moral and ethical aspects
This heading is a free-floating combination and no
authority record is needed. It appears that the proposal was made in order
to provide a reference from Ethical foods. The citation on the proposal
indicates that the reference is more restricted in meaning than the heading.
A separate proposal may be resubmitted for Ethical foods if research supports
this terminology.
Hungary--History--Anti-Government Demonstrations, 2006
Citations to these demonstrations do not indicate
this is terminology for a named event since such citations use lower-case
forms, not capitalized forms as would be expected for a named event. The
proposal was not approved.
Latin American theater
The proposed heading is covered by the existing
heading Hispanic American theater. The proposal was not approved.
War on Terrorism, 2001-
References from foreign-language names of events
are made only when such names appear in English-language usage. The proposed
Arabic reference was not approved.
