The meeting believes that there is no significant advantage to creating a geographic arrangement of works on fish parasites. The proposals were not approved.

SUBJECT HEADINGS

Jews, Syrian--Identity

The meeting feels that the current practice of assigning the existing heading Jews--Identity post-coordinated with a heading for the specific group of Jews, in this case Jews, Syrian, is sufficient. The proposal was not approved.

Kanakuk Kamps (Mo.)

According to their web site, Kanakuk Kamps is a division of Kanakuk Ministries, and as such is a corporate body. A heading for Kanakuk Kamps could be established in the name authority file. The proposal was not approved.

Rietvlei Dam (South Africa); Vaal Barrage Dam (South Africa)

As stated in the Summary of Decisions for WL09-17, LCSH makes a distinction between dams and the reservoirs that they create, and it is unclear from the broader terms and the reference sources cited which use is intended. If the dam and the reservoir have the same name, the proposal should be qualified appropriately according to Subject Headings Manual (SHM) instruction sheet H 690, sec. 8. If headings for both the dam and the reservoir are required, then proposals should be prepared for each. The proposals may be resubmitted.

Classes of locomotives

The ABA Policy and Standards Division in cooperation with the British Library has undertaken a project to standardize the use of a plural qualifier in headings for classes of locomotives, and to update the broader terms of locomotive classes so that they are assigned to the specific type of locomotive (steam, diesel, etc.), where appropriate, rather than to the general BT Locomotives.
