Announcement: Status of Conversion of Authority Records

Tuesday, February 27, 2001

The Library of Congress and OCLC reached a milestone in the Pinyin Conversion Project: OCLC has completed the conversion of approximately 160,000 records in the national authority file (NAF). LC has loaded these records and distributed them to the NACO nodes (OCLC, RLIN, and the British Library). LC's Cataloging Distribution Service (CDS) distributed the converted records to its customers via the regular distribution of products and services. A special one-time snapshot file of all converted authority records is expected to be available from CDS in April 2001.

Users should report any problems on authority records to: Philip Melzer, Team Leader, Korean/Chinese Team, LC, pmel@loc.gov.
