The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Graduate Recruit Program is designed to attract a diverse pool of highly qualified applicants for a variety of positions that provide an opportunity to support the CRS mission of serving the Congress throughout the legislative process. Initial appointments are made for a period up to 120 days. Some initial appointments may be eligible for subsequent conversion to permanent appointments, contingent upon participants' performance and completion of all degree requirements, and upon availability of funding.
The program is open to: (1) students enrolled in, or graduating with an appropriate advanced degree from, accredited graduate institutions, and (2) Library of Congress staff who already possess a graduate degree. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements through education and/or experience for an initial appointment to at least the minimum grade level of the position or positions to which they are applying (see "General Education Requirements" below). Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
