Disaster Preparedness Working Group
This working group assists federal libraries and information centers in preparing for disasters by supporting and promoting cooperation among federal agencies, offering educational programs, and providing information resources for disaster recovery. The Disaster Preparedness Working Group oversees Safety Net, the Washington, D.C. regional network for disaster response.
Charter of Federal Library Mutual Disaster Assistance (721 kb)
Over a dozen federal institutions have signed a charter of mutual assistance, a voluntary agreement of principles for collaborating in the event of a disaster affecting one or more of the signatories.FLICC and the Library of Congress Preservation Directorate offered a model charter (23 kb) for librarians interested in collaborating with other institutions as part of the 2008 May Day initiative sponsored by the Society of American Archivists.
