PhotoArts Imaging Professionals is a conservation practice dedicated to preserving film-based and A –V materials for future access of fragile, historic items. Principal conservators have combined experience of 75+ years in silver halide, historic photographic processes, and audio & video formats from the earliest ambrotypes & glass plates to modern digital formats.
PAIP prints HABS projects, surveys collections, and performs preventative conservation & damage recovery on photographic & video media. All work is performed to the Standards & Guidelines of the American Institute for Conservation & Preservation of Historic and Artistic Works. Services for clients include:
- Preservation of negatives, slides, photographs, movie films & reel-to-reel audiotapes
- Conservation treatments of photographic and film-based materials related to age, environmental, or storm/accident damage
- Preservation digitization of historic & silver halide-based photographs and film, including metadata
- Preservation digitization A-V media, 8mm & 16mm movie formats (silent & sound), and audio media, including vinyl recordings
- Archival printing of glass plates, negatives, & slides from film formats 35mm to 8x10
- Restoration & duplication of B&W and color negatives, transparencies, nitrate & acetate films
- Archival printing of digital media on variety of surfaces to 16x20
