Promoting Information Retrieval Strategies in Federal Agencies

This four-segment video presents the March 2003 event "Promoting Information Retrieval Strategies in Federal Agencies/Organizing for Effective Search and Retrieval" in its entirety.

Segment I

Harriet RioFrio, Office of the Secretary of Defense/Deputy CIO, welcomes participants and set the stage for the morning. She introduces Dr. Nathaniel Heiner, Chief Knowledge Officer, U.S. Coast Guard (on detail to the Department of Homeland Defense). Following his presentation, RioFrio introduces Priscilla Guthrie, the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Department of Defense. Susan M. Tarr, the FLICC Executive Director, remarks conclude the first segment.

Segment II

Tarr introduces Jan Herd of the Library of Congress Science, Technology & Business Division, who moderates the first of two roundtable discussions. The panelists for both sessions are Denise Bedford, World Bank; John Dickert, DTIC; Mike Genuardi, NASA; Marjorie Hlava, Access Innovations; Howard McQueen, McQueen Consulting; Jessica Milstead, JELEM Co.; Steve Newcomb, Coolheads Consulting;and Etta Russell, Center for Army Lessons Learned.

Segment III

The roundtable discussion continues.

Segment IV

Audience members participate in an open question and answer session with the panelists.
