Physical Processing

Library materials in all formats - books, periodicals, videos, microfilms, sound recordings, CD- ROMs, etc. - have to be physically processed before they are "shelf-ready." Depending on the type of material, this may entail adding spine labels, date due slips, circulation cards and pockets, bar codes and security strips, ownership markings, protective cases and covers and/or reinforcements. Physical processing makes materials ready for circulation and prolongs their shelf life. The
FEDLINK books vendors may provide physical processing for the publications
you purchase through them. The table below summarizes the vendors' offerings.
The prices may vary between vendors and within a vendor's own offering for
several reasons: ·
There are different
"standard" packages available. ·
There are different
processing options available within the basic categories (e.g., simply
providing spine labels or actually affixing them to the item). ·
There are different
quality materials to choose from (e.g., mylar coverups of different
thickness). ·
There are some volume
discounts for large orders. Please contact your vendor for detailed
