Preservation and Digitization Working
Group
This ad hoc working group develops strategies for the preservation
of federal library resources by supporting and promoting resource
assessments, educational programs, cooperation with other governement
and nongovernment preservation groups and the the development of agency
disaster plans. It also works with GPO to document the range of binding
requirements of federal libraries and information centers, formulate
library binding contracts and provide quality assurance standards.
Library of Congress Presents Model Charter
to Mark May Day 2008
In honor of May Day, the Library of Congress Preservation Directorate and FLICC have sponsored a model mutual disaster assistance charter as an aid to librarians on collaborating with other institutions to prepare for and cope with disasters. May Day is an initiative of the Heritage Emergency National Task Force which encourages archives, libraries, museums, and historic preservation organizations across America to do something to help protect their collections from disaster on May 1st.
