Civil Rights Movement in Florida Conference oral histories

Collection Description (CRHP): The symposium included former activists from Dayton, Jacksonville, and other places in Florida, providing a very valuable perspective on an under-studied state of the civil rights struggle.

Collection Description (Extant): The Florida Studies Program and University Honors Program at USF St. Petersburg sponsored a symposium devoted to the history and legacies of the civil rights movement in communities across the Sunshine State. Most lectures were recorded on S-VHS and/or DVD.

Access Copy Note: Access to this collection is available by appointment. Please contact Jim Schnur (whose contact information is listed in the people field of this record). He currently is working on getting all the videotaped sessions transcribed.

Condition Note: Some of the video recordings are of poor quality, but library staff are working on getting the panel sessions transcribed.
