The Civil Rights History Project: Survey of Collections and Repositories

Oral histories

Repository: Ouachita Baptist University. Special Collections

Collection Description (CRHP): Topics include race relations, school desegregation, the desegregation of Ouachita Baptist University, and Little Rock Central High School.

Collection Description (Extant): More than 4,200 tape recordings supply a wealth of information on and insights into a wide variety of topics - the Great Depression, World War II, the timber industry, race relations, rural family life, religion, education, and farming, just to name a few. These oral histories are particularly useful as a means of supplementing the written record and supplying information not found in newspapers, official documents, and correspondence.
