Collection Description (Extant): This project consists of interviews concerning Albert Benjamin 'Happy' Chandler's career as baseball commissioner from 1945 to 1951. Interviewees include Happy Chandler and baseball players, team owners, friends and colleagues of Chandler. Topics discussed include Chandler's election to office of baseball commissioner, World War II, Jackie Robinson and the end of segregation in baseball, team ownership, baseball players, World Series games, minor league baseball, Negro League, racism.
