Collection Description (CRHP): Film includes coverage of white power marches as well as footage of demonstrations and news conferences in support of fair housing, school desegregation, and other civil rights efforts.
Collection Description (Extant): Materials pertaining to the Milwaukee radio and television stations owned by The Journal Company. The stations operated under the call letters WTMJ. Included are scripts for radio and television editorials, audience surveys, photographs, promotional materials, scripts for newscasts, and information on the personnel, history, and operation of the stations.
The processed portion is summarized above and is described in the register. Additional accessions consist largely of news film which is the original edited television footage used on the air to illustrate news stories from 1948 to 1980. It includes footage of the Milwaukee Braves, civil rights activities in Milwaukee during the 1960s, local businesses such as Allis-Chalmers and the Pabst, Schlitz, and Miller breweries, and politicians and celebrities who visited Milwaukee.
