Collection Description (Extant): Social worker, of Columbus, Ohio. Correspondence, reports, and memoranda, relating to welfare rights in general and the National Welfare Rights Organization, particularly the Columbus and Cleveland branches, tape recorded interviews between Whitaker and WRO officials; and his doctoral thesis, "The Determinants of Social Movements Success: A Study of the National Welfare Rights Organization." Includes material on the poor people's campaign, food stamp program, Ohio and Franklin County Committees for Adequate Welfare, and the 1967 welfare dispute in Columbus.
